Sanibel Island - Seashell Capital of the World
After many visits to the beaches in Florida, Nancy finally decided to do something with the seashells she accumulated over the years. When she stopped at a local seashell shop only to find their seashell wreaths were made overseas, she become inspired to create wreaths with Florida seashells. “Every time I go to Sanibel, Fort Myers Beach, or Bonita Beach and pick up a shell, I’m amazed at nature’s artwork — there are so many different patterns, shapes, and sizes of shells. And when I walk along the surf, I see a variety of people shelling from toddlers to men smoking cigars. Everybody loves them.”
The artist in her makes Nancy want to create each seashell wreath with its own style and character. Whether it’s arranging the shells in a certain color scheme, painting the shells, or adding special touches such as dried flowers, mangrove leaves, or hand-painted ornaments, she knows each wreath will have that unique, artistic touch.
Each wreath has its own style and character - like a snowflake, no two are alike!
